Communication Arts- In Communication Arts, we looked at points of view. Students read various stories and discussed whether the author wrote in 1st or 3rd person. As you read at home, this is one conversation you can have with your child. In Writing, we are finishing up our descriptive writing paragraphs. Students were told to design their bedroom anyway that they wanted. Then, students were asked to write a descriptive writing on this drawing. They are really getting into this project and you will slowly start seeing this piece of writing go up on the wall outside our classroom. Please remember, I do not edit or conference with students on their final writing. I want to see what they are able to accomplish independently. We are also starting to work on verbs.
Math-Students finished up unit 1 and are beginning to move toward a unit on graphing. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts at home. With graphing, students will be looking at and analysing bar and pictographs.
Science-We are a little behind on our plant unit but we will be wrapping it up shortly. Next, we will be moving into a unit about government.
